Item Description
Mineral specimens of any type are very uncommon from the mines and quarries around Zwiesel. Beryl specimens are extremely rare. This impressive piece hosts five large and several smaller beryl crystals. The hexagonal, lustrous, translucent, pastel-green crystals (lightly tinted by iron oxides) reach 5.7 cm. The striking, isolated edge crystal is 3.5 cm, doubly terminated and pristine. Other crystals have single terminations or are crystal sections. The crystals are very artistically set in the massive quartz matrix. A rare, old-time, highly desirable beryl from Bavaria. Accompanied by an old, faded, probably early 1900's-era century label. Ex. Herb Obodda specimen.
