Item Description

From one of the most classic old U.S. pegmatite localities, here we have a crystal of Beryl from Haddam Neck (no given mine, but possibly the Gillette Quarry). The label calls it pink and green, but it's more of a powder blue and beige-tan, perhaps the color faded with time(?). The crystal is terminated on one end and the piece has blocky hexagonal form. Minor associated green Tourmaline and Muscovite can be seen on the piece as well. The piece is essentially opaque, but so are a lot of the Beryls from this area. Haddam Neck was active (at least for granite mining) as far back as 1762, and stands as one of the most historic localities for pegmatite minerals. From an old East Coast collection.
