Item Description
Beryl is one of the most well-known of all the gem crystal species, but the majority of specimens you'll find feature crystals with a singular hue. This piece however is a wonderful stout, sharp and attractive multi-colored Beryl from the Erongo Mountains featuring a largely blue (Aquamarine) hue throughout the majority of the prism, which abruptly transitions into a rich golden (Heliodor) color along the basal termination. You can actually see a blending of the two colors to create a slight greenish hue as well, but you have to view it at a side angle to see it best. These highly distinctive Aquamarine/Heliodor crystals were from a limited find circa 2010, and have not been duplicated since. It is a really different style for Beryl, like none other we have seen from Erongo, or anywhere, and they are few and far between on the market today. If you missed out on these when they first came out, this is a great chance to get your hands on a fine example of these elusive and certainly unmatched Beryls from this famous pegmatite region in Namibia. Specimen weight is 60.3 grams.
Valued $2,500.
Ex Brian Kosnar specimen.
