Item Description
A very attractive and incredibly hard to pair of Aquamarines from the obscure Pelton's Quarry in Connecticut. They are stout, sharp and lustrous showing good hexagonal form. The color of each crystals is a lovely rich greenish-blue, and the crystals actually show a bit of translucency when backlit. Neither crystal is 100% complete, but one of them shows a fine basal termination and the other shows a slight contact termination. You just don't see Connectict Beryls on the market. We had this set valued at $600 in the inventory based upon the quality and rarity on the market From the worldwide collection of David Burgess (1951-2016). David was a prolific species collector from Newington, Connecticut, and the namesake for the extremely rare cobalt arsenate species Burgessite, which he discovered. The pieces come with a label stating that they are from the Sweetman(sp?) collection of West Haven, Connecticut.
