Item Description
Berthierite is a rare iron antimony sulfosalt mineral that is not often found in good crystallized specimens. The species dates back to 1827 when it was named after Pierre Berthier a chemist from France, and mineralogist at the Ecole des Mines. This small cabinet is from the classic locality at Vlastejovice, Czech Republic featuring dozens of silvery-grey thin needles of Berthierite mixed into the host rock matrix. The surface shows a lovely "peacock" iridescence, that has been noted from the locality.
Ex Colin Manlove Collection.
