A fascinating and unusual bent doubly terminated indicolite tourmaline from the famous Pederneira Mine. The beautiful gemmy teal-blue crystal was bent by tectonic forces during formation in the pegmatite. The very glassy and lustrous, well-striated, layered trigonal prism is dramatically accented with preferential clusters of contrasting lilac lepidolite plates. The terminations are distinctively different with one having bizarre stepped-growth, like an M.C. Escher lithograph Two clean repairs are certainly acceptable in the context of pegmatite species. 44 grams mass. A classic, but unusual at the same time! A floater , gemmy indicolite from this famous locale. Such crystals are often seen for thousands of dollars in this size, and are common enough without the bend - that is what makes it really stand out.
