Item Description

A wonderful association specimen from the famous Gem Mine specimen featuring a handful of well-formed, gemmy, classic, beautiful sapphire blue colored trigonal crystals of Benitoite measuring up to 1.0 cm on edge associated with a small sharp, lustrous, well-formed, translucent, orange-brown colored Joaquinite-(Ce) crystal and a small prismatic crystals of dark reddish-black Neptunite sitting on a thin layer of white Natrolite and grey-blue Crossite matrix. To have all three of the major species from the mine together on the same specimen is a big deal, and it's something that is seen in only a tiny percentage of specimens from this historic locality. Keep in mind that both Benitoite and Joaquinite-(Ce) are RARE minerals, only found in a few places in the world. The Gem Mine is the type locality for Joaquinite-(Ce), along with obviously being best known for its amazing Benitoite and Neptunite specimens. From the collection Shields Flynn.
