Item Description

Benitoite is a rather popular rare gem, for the fact that it has vivid color and good gem material was only found at one world locality. The famed Benitoite mine (Dallas Mine; Gem Mine) is now completely defunct for all intents and purposes, and will never produce these stones again. Benitoite is actually the state gem of California, and the price of fine gems has been on the rise since the demand is quite high. Gem dealers in the United States have told us that Benitoite is often the most difficult gem for them to keep in stock, everything sells immediately. Keep in mind that when it comes to U.S. gems, they're always high in demand, and it doesn't matter if it's Benitoite from California, Rhodochrosite from the Sweet Home Mine, Hiddenite from North Carolina, Sapphires from Montana, etc., people are buying material from the United States at a higher rate than any point in history. This stone has a lovely soft blue color, and a fine "Round Brilliant" cut. It's virtually eye clean in clarity, and for the smaller size has an attractive color.
