Item Description
A 2.1 cm textbook hexagonal benitoite crystal is jauntily set on serpentine matrix on this showy and excellent combination from the famous Dallas Gem Mine. The lustrous, partially gemmy crystal has classic indigo-blue color. An unusual notch down the center has embedded neptunite fragments adding character. The base has been sawed to enhance the display quality. The back side of the matrix hosts neptunite sections adding to this excellent older combination from the Kay Robertson Collection # 219, dating to the 1940s or 50s. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record). Ghostly white fluorescence. Comes with a John Albanese label.
