Item Description
Bavenite is a rare calcium beryllium aluminum silicate mineral, first found at the Seula Mine in the Italian Alps. It was named for the town of Baveno, near where it was first discovered. This piece is a good reference specimen featuring a few small open vugs featuring micro crystal groups of white Bavenite, associated with dark grey-green Babingtonite on a matrix composed of pink Feldspar and Quartz. We have photographed the little crystals with a Canon MP-E 65 mm macro lens to better illustrate the quality. A cool example of this old classic material from the first place it was ever found. The piece comes with a label from Sergio dott. Varvello a mineral dealer from Stresa, a town in the Italian Piedmont.
