Item Description
A rare specimen of Bavenite from the famed Foote Mine in North Carolina. Bavenite is a calcium beryllium aluminum silicate species, named after the town of Baveno in the Italian Piedmont. This piece features a 1.1 cm attractive chalky white "spray" of Bavenite sitting atop translucent Albite on matrix. These are rarely seen for sale on the market, and if you collect rarities or minerals from the Foote Mine, this is something that is worth picking up for your collection.
From the collection Jack Eaker (whose label says the specimen was identified by Jason Smith).
