Item Description
A stout little gemmy, thumbnail crystal of orange-brown Bastnaesite-(Ce) from Zagi Mountain, Pakistan. This super sharp crystal has textbook form for this rare cerium carbonate. It has intense color, good luster and is translucent to transparent. It deceptively looks like a half-crystal, however, it is complete it just has an overly developed prism face that happens to be mounted to the acrylic base and the two adjacent hexagonal faces are underdeveloped. Trivial edge microchipping locally. This locality redefined the quality and size for what the average collector can obtain for top quality examples of the species. The backlit photo highlights the incredibly rich orange-brown color and partial gemminess of this fine crystal.
