Item Description
A gorgeous and fine quality thumbnail specimen of this rare barium calcium carbonate species from a rare locality. The label accompanying the piece states it's from the High Cross Vein of the Brownley Hill Mine in Cumbria, England. Many sharp, well-formed, soft white platy crystals forming "rose"-esque groups measuring up to 1.2 cm are sitting on minor matrix. While the surface has a white hue, there is a golden color than can be seen underneath. No major damage and very showy. A choice example of this elusive material.
From the collection of Shields Flynn with a 3x5 index card label from the collection of Ernie Schlichter.
