Item Description

Dramatically sculptural cluster of unusual looking iron oxide-tinted balls of microcrystalline baryte. The balls are set on the large gossan matrix peppered with patches of tiny, sharp, lustrous orange-brown dolomite rhombs and sparkly marcasite microcrystals. This ancient iron mine, abandoned in the 1963 is well-known for these strange looking baryte balls. A rare and showy large combination from this old iron mine. For size and location, is an important German locality piece from the well known Germany suite of the Kurt Hefendehl collection.
