Baryte with Hematite (fine locality specimen)

Baryte is not the first species that most people think of when it comes to the N'Chwaning II Mine in South Africa. They are usually secondary associated minerals, and rarely the focal point of any particular specimen. THIS piece however is one of the best examples that we've ever had to offer from this mine as it features several excellent, sharp, very well-formed, thick, blocky, gemmy, colorless crystals which are associated with highly lustrous, black, metallic Hematite crystals all over. The largest Baryte is doubly-terminated and measures 4.8 cm at its longest dimension. Minor roughness can be seen, but overall this is an impressive and very worthwhile piece to add to any collection of minerals from the Kalahari Manganese Field, or a worldwide Baryte collection.
