Item Description

Tabular, spear-point crystals of lustrous white Baryte to 5.5 cm are associated with a large, single Fluorite cube from the Taolin Mine in China. This commercial mine was closed by the early 1990s and specimens are few and old, even in China. We seldom see any for sale today. This is old classic Chinese material, 40 years or more out of the ground! The well-formed, tabular Baryte crystals are nicely terminated and exhibit translucent white cores and almost snow-white, less translucent, distinct rims. All of the Barytes are in tightly fanned groups that diverge from one point and there at least a dozen of these groups. The contrasting, translucent Fluorite cube measures 3.5 cm on its longest edge and displays a purplish core with a surrounding greenish area and then a a 2 to 3 mm skoky rim. This is a well composed piece that is rather dramatic.
