Item Description

Jagged terminations on this classic, scuptural two-sided combination specimen from this famous mine, closed in 1974. Glassy, transparent to translucent, parallel-growth tabular barite blades are included with cinnabar, giving the crystals the characteristic classic red tint. Ex Kay Robertson Collection # 5253 and acquired in the late 1960s. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien-Welt" November-December 2017). Showy and excellent material from the locale, noted for such combinations.
