Item Description
Glassy, sharp, transparent to translucent barite spearpoints are subtlely included with green specks of malachite on this beautiful corsage from the late 1990s finds at the Shangulowe Mine in the Congo Copper Belt. The lustrous chisel-shaped crystals are highlighted by the limpid tips and green hues. This well-known former open pit Cu-Co mine was worked by artisanal miners, who found the best barite specimens from the DR Congo. These are easily some of the most unusual barites collected world-wide in the last 30 years, and came out in the 1990s. A choice, aesthetic and rich small cabinet example in excellent condition, from an older collection. valued $750-1000.
