Item Description
A superlative and rare style of barite from the one-time 1988 find at this well-known sulfur mine. A fantastic 4.5 x 2.6 cm "wall" of amber parallel-growth barite blades with fabulous golden-amber gem terminations dramatically rises up from the matrix of more barite crystal clusters that are strikingly festooned jackstraw-style with lustrous, gemmy to translucent, light tan celestine spikes. The bit of sulfur attached at the base is a classic compliment. The wall does have some broken crystal tips and some periphery wear is noted. This remains rare and superb 360-degree combination example of the species and locale. Specimens from this find and style are VERY RARE on the market, for obvious reasons. The note on the back of the Dr. Eugene Sensel label states it succintly: "This specimen is as good as they come from this mine."
