Typically the Barytes from Jinkouhe are white/colorless, but they often show some kind of chalky white overgrowth in areas. THIS piece is one of the finest quality examples we've seen from the locality for what it is. The crystals are incredibly glassy and razor-sharp with very little coating to be seen. They are also VERY GEMMY to boot, virtually WATER-CLEAR in areas. The color is a soft smoky-golden hue with some colorless transition zoning in areas. The largest crystal measures 2.3 cm. Most of the crystals are in very good condition, but there are some broken crystals around the periphery, so the piece is not 100% pristine. Whatever damage is present is outshined by the stellar quality of the Barytes, which are as good as anything I've seen from the locality, with regard to the size. If you collect worldwide Barytes, Chinese minerals, or you just appreciate fine display specimens, this is a really attractive and impressive example that you're not likely to see again on the market in this quality.
