Item Description
A VERY RARE and dramatic partially polished barite stalactite from the historic lead mines of the Alston Moor District. The partial polishing reveals the striking "eyes" of the multi-hued brown radial growth of the the stalactite. The sawed base shows the radial stalactite growth and the secondary overgrowths of bladed barite are a nice accent. The barely legible old label on the back says: Barite stalactite, Alston Moor, Cumberland. This exceptional and rare old-timer certainly dates to prior to World War I and could be much older. Value of such a fine English rarity??
