Item Description
The Lubin Mine in Poland for many years at this point has been producing some really attractive specimens of Baryte and Marcasite, found in various styles. This large miniature / small cabinet sized piece comes from a fairly recent find which produced these distinctive and unique stalactites of Baryte which are coated by sparkling metallic (slightly iridescent) golden Marcasite on the exterior. You can see at the base of the specimen that the cream colored Baryte is still present underneath, so it's not a pseudomorph, simply a coating of Marcasite over Baryte. Beautiful to view up close and we've illustrated the tiny Marcasite crystals under magnification.
