Item Description

Impressive large, floater, 360-degree, baryte "rose" from Noble, Cleveland County, near Oklahoma City and Norman. The area is well-known for such exceptional specimens. Stout intergrown baryte blades are included with sand forming the dramatically colorful and sculptural specimen. The roses from here are much larger than most from nearby localities. This fine cluster was formed in the Permian-aged Garber Sandstone. Oxidized sand grains are included in the baryte crystal structure with colorful effect. These are the Oklahoma State Rock. Classic and excellent baryte from the Kurt Hefendehl Collection, a well-known German collector who amassed a world-wide collection of over 6000 pieces. Pristine.
