Item Description

An aesthetic and dense large cluster of barite crystals is dominated by the striking, large 5.8 cm spearpoint. The fine gemmy to translucent, glassy, golden-amber to brown crystals are nicely, preferentially accented with a second generation of smaller crystals. Some of the larger blades feature striking classic chevron-shaped color-zoning, adding pizzazz. These excellent crystals compare very favorably with Nevada Meikle Mine barytes and are MUCH RARER. These came out in the early to mid-2000s, with none since. The interior is pristine. Ex Bob Reynolds Collection, a well-known fossil and mineral expert and former Curator of the San Bernardino County Museum. He passed away in 2020. The rare phyllomanganate-chromate species Reynoldsite was named in his honor in 2011. A sculptural, rich and rare large barite from the limited find.
