Item Description
Here we have a possibly unique specimen from the famed Annabel Lee Mine in Southern Illinois featuring pseudomorph / "cast" of sparkling sugary white Baryte which has replaced Celestine. The inner / concave portion of the specimen features a few minor soft blue colored Celestine crystals that are still in place. The outer convex side of the specimen shows the well-preserved form of the preexisting Celestine crystal with good definition. Very few of these exist, and I have only seen a select few. This one is certainly one of the better examples in terms of both size and quality. One does not typically see many pseudomorphs from this area, especially in the case of Baryte replacing another mineral. From the worldwide pseudomorph collection of Wouter Van Tichelen (specimen #20090901).
