Item Description
A showy and aesthetic display specimen from the Xiefang Mine featuring sharp, lustrous, thick, translucent, glowing golden colored diamond-shaped crystals of Baryte measuring 2.3 cm across, beautifully perched on the edge of snow white Quartz matrix. The Baryte group is complete all around, but there is some minor roughness in a few spots. A wonderful piece of these now hard to find specimens dating back to the late 2000s.
Ex Dr. Stephen Smale Collection. Along with amassing one of the finest private mineral collections in the world, Steve is a renowned mathematician. His accomplishments include being awarded the Fields Medal in 1966 along with being the awarded the Wolf Prize in mathematics in 2007.
