Item Description
Highly unusual, very exotic looking barite on fluorite from the famous Minerva Mine and the Ross Lillie Collection # 0229. Preferential dissolution of a large barite crystal has left only an impressive crater lined with a remnant of bone-white laminated barite on the starkly contrasting lustrous, translucent, bi-colored purple and amber fluorite matrix. The "crater" is 3.4 cm across and 2.3 cm deep. It looks like a volcano crater lined with salts or snow! Very rare, perhaps UNIQUE style barite on fluorite from this well-known locale.
