Item Description

Striking, robust, color-zoned, transparent to translucent tabular barite crystals are very aesthetically clustered on sculptural large layered sandstone matrix covered with tiny, glassy, flattened dolomite rhombs. The pristine doubly terminated crystal, behind the stout frontal crystal, is 4.8 cm wide. Very nearly pristine, a small corner contact, with very little bruising, on the frontal prism is certainly only a modest detraction. Ex Bob Reynolds Collection, a well-known fossil and mineral expert and former Curator of the San Bernardino County Museum. He passed away in 2020. An impressive and excellent large combination from the locality and 2005 to 2006 finds, now considered to be mined out.
