Item Description
A sculptural and pristine old-time miniature cluster of barite blades from Stoneham. The aesthetically lined up transparent to translucent, lustrous, gray-blue crystals have textbook chisel terminations. Ex Kay Robertson Collection # 468, which dates the piece to the early 1950s, and is probably older. The Ralph Dietz attribution of South Dakota on Kay's label is mistaken. Ralph was a well-known California collector and author. Specimens of this age are seldom available and this is a good one. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record).
