Item Description

Lustrous, translucent, densely clustered, two-toned, parallel-growth baryte crystals form an impressive large old-time tabular specimen from the famous iron mines of Cumbria. The glassy crystals are yellow-green in the front and the striking myriad of hematite-tinted chisel terminations really adds pizzazz to this very fine specimen. Very interestingly, all of the lustrous barytes on the back are hematite tinted. Strange fluid chemistry here! Some of the crystals appear to be doubly terminated. Complete all-around and nearly pristine. The scattered modest bruising to some of the terminations on the edges is noted, but certainly has only modest impact to the overall very high quality of this sculptural large baryte. Valued at $2000.
