Item Description

Color-zoned, rich honey-brown, blocky, lustrous, translucent barite crystals cover this large showy and excellent two-sided mounded plate. Some of the two-toned crystals have a preferential secondary barite overgrowth giving them a frosted look. The matrix is massive barite. The striking, large, central dominating crystal is 3.3 x 3.0 x 2.7 cm. The interiors of some of the crystals have striking gemmy flashes, adding pizzazz. Modest scattered bruising and periphery wear are certainly minimal detractions. A rich, large highly representative barite from the locale from the H.R. McBroom and Allen Dillwith Collections.
