Item Description
Barite specimens from this mine are rare compared to Nevada's famous Meikle Mine. Northumberland Mine barytes bear a strong resemblance to classic English barytes, as the photos testify. This aesthetic small cabinet consists of striking graduated in size, glassy, gemmy gray crystals with sharp chisel terminations. Probably mined in the 1980s. See the 1985 Mineralogical Record issue: Vol. 16, #1, pp. 37-41. A fine example from the Kay Robertson Collection # 10808. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record).
