Baryte (fine gemmy crystals)

Here we have an excellent, beautiful and highly aesthetic display specimen of these wonderful, and I would say classic Barytes from Peru. These specimens first made an appearance on the market in the early 2000s, and they are truly some of the best quality Barytes from any locality in South America. This showy small cabinet sized piece features sharp, lustrous, rather gemmy, thick tabular bladed Baryte crystals of a beautiful golden color measuring up to about 3.1 cm, aesthetically sitting on Dolomite matrix. I love the balance and three-dimensional appeal of the specimen as it displays wonderfully as you can see from the photos. I can't find any major damage, as both of the main Baryte groups are crystallized all over, and look great from several angles. These pieces are now hard to find on the market, and certainly worth picking up if you collect Barytes, Peruvian minerals or general display pieces. Valued $1,500.
