Item Description

This is a beautiful and highly aesthetic display specimen of these excellent Barytes from Peru, which by now are approaching "classic" status. We first started seeing these superb Barytes coming out in the early 2000s, and are some of the best quality examples of the species from any locality in South America. This small cabinet sized piece hosts a group of sharp, lustrous, rather gemmy, tabular bladed Baryte crystals of a beautiful silvery-blue color aesthetically with contrasting pink Dolomite, sitting on matrix. The entire Baryte group measures 5.7 cm, at its longest dimension. I love the arrangement and three-dimensional appeal of the specimen, and it displays wonderfully as you can see from the video. I can't find any major damage, a really showy and fine quality example of these now hard to find specimens. Certainly worth picking up if you collect Barytes, Peruvian minerals or general worldwide display pieces. Valued $1000. From the worldwide mineral collection of geologist, Demetrius Pohl (#1721).
