Item Description
What a showy aesthetic display specimen of these excellent Barytes from Peru. These gorgeous and fine quality examples are now are approaching "classic" status, as they first hit the market in the early 2000s. They are certainly some of the best Barytes from any locality in South America. This cabinet sized piece hosts a full coverage of very sharp, highly lustrous, gemmy/translucent, tabular bladed Baryte crystals of a beautiful silvery-blue color with contrasting pink Dolomite, aesthetically sitting on matrix. The largest Baryte crystal measures 2.8 cm. I love the arrangement and three-dimensional appeal of the specimen, and it displays wonderfully as you can see from the video. I can't find any major damage, just a few minor imperfections, a really showy and fine quality example of these now hard to find specimens. Certainly worth picking up if you collect Barytes, Peruvian minerals or general worldwide display pieces. Valued $1500. From the worldwide mineral collection of geologist, Demetrius Pohl (#1811).
