Item Description
Tan, glassy, translucent, tabular baryte prisms, to 2.2 cm, are richly and attractively clustered jackstraw-style on the sculptural matrix plate. The specimen is from the well-known Palos Verdes Hills. Complete all-around and in great shape. All of the many crystals in the interior appear to be pristine and the trivial periphery wear is certainly a negligible detraction. This fine piece is from old finds in the 1960s or 70s in what is now an area of urban Los Angeles' sprawl! This is a superb example in great condition and with fine crystals! BONUS: Ghostly white SW UV fluorescence. Ex Bob Reynolds Collection, a well-known fossil and mineral expert and Curator of the San Bernardino County Museum - and we do know that he collected these himself. This Los Angeles County locale is well-known for excellent baryte specimens and this is really good one.
