Item Description
A classic old Baryte from Cumbria (no specific mine was given) featuring a gemmy, white/colorless, sharp, euhedral, well-formed, thick tabular crystal, free of matrix. There is a bit of roughness in a couple spots, but the piece is largely in very good shape. It's not common to find gemmy thick crystals like this from Cumbria, and if you're a fan of Baryte or old English classics, this would make a great addition to your collection. From the collection of Robert (Bob) Reynolds (#RR0189). Bob was a well-known fossil and mineral expert and former Curator of Earth Sciences at the San Bernardino County Museum in California. The rare phyllomanganate-chromate species Reynoldsite was named in his honor in 2011.
