Item Description
This is classic example of the famous Meikle Mine Barytes. The old dealer label states that this piece was collected in January of 1999. This small cabinet specimen is a showy and highly displayable piece featuring sharp, gemmy, lustrous, tabular beautiful golden colored Baryte crystals measuring up to 3.2 cm, sitting on matrix. Very good quality, I can see some small imperfection, but the piece is in great shape overall. It also displays beautifully on its own without the aid of a base or clay. Classic material and hard to photograph, and I would say better in person. I would put a value of about $1,250 on this one. From the collection of Robert (Bob) Reynolds. Bob was a well-known fossil and mineral expert and former Curator of Earth Sciences at the San Bernardino County Museum in California. The rare phyllomanganate-chromate species Reynoldsite was named in his honor in 2011.
