Item Description
Sculptural and impressive large dense jackstraw cluster of intergrown barite blades from the historic polymetallic locale - the Herja Mine. The blue-gray crystals reach 3.7 cm and the cream-colored tips add real color and character. The striking double spear points are 3.0 cm across. The mine closed in 2006. Ex Bob Reynolds Collection, a well-known fossil and mineral expert and former Curator of the San Bernardino County Museum. He passed away in 2020. The rare phyllomanganate-chromate species Reynoldsite was named in his honor in 2011. Pristine. An exceptional rich and large barite of this color varietal from this classic extinct locale.
