Item Description

Elmwood is renowned for world-class calcite and fluorite specimens, but it has also produced outstanding baryte and sphalerite combinations, such as this impressive large piece. Two classic, textbook, creamy, crenulated bladed baryte "balls", 6.0 and 5.3 cm, are artistically set on the sculptural large 3-dimensional matrix. The complementary, contrasting matrix is densely intergrown, splendent, metallic luster, twinned, jet-black and translucent "rubyjack" sphalerite crystals. Mass is 1665 grams or 3.7 pounds. The bit of periphery wear on one end is certainly a minimal detraction to this classic, aesthetic, large Elmwood combination with multiple display views.
