Item Description

A 5.3 cm, classic for the locale, bladed barite "ball" is nicely set on the large plate of lustrous, black, twinned rubyjack sphalerite crystals from the famous Elmwood Mine. The lustrous creamy blades have classic form and the trivial bit of bruising is out-of-sight on the backside of the ball. The sphalerites have typical flashes of yellow-orange-red color under bright light. See the 1978 Mineralogical Record article in Vol 9, No. 4. Ex Bob Reynolds Collection, a well-known fossil and mineral expert and former Curator of the San Bernardino County Museum. He passed away in 2020. Classic and excellent Elmwood barite and sphalerite.
