Item Description

This is a significant, large, compound Baryte crystal from the famous old iron mines at Frizington, source of some of the world's finest Barytes. Terminated although with damage at the tip that does detract a little, the Baryte is highly lustrous, translucent to nearly gemmy, with an attractive green color. Dolomite crystals decorate the termination of this century-old specimen, which likely dates to the late 1800's. Attractive from all sides, this is a true old classic. If not for the small damage at the tip, it would really be worth thousands of dollars, but probably is worth $500-750 adjusting. ex George Elling Collection.
