Item Description
Tiny dogtooth calcite crystals are richly, preferentially studded on this very rich, dramatic and sculptural large 360-degree mounded combination specimen of intergrown baryte blades from this noted locale. The fine gray-blue, lustrous, translucent, tabular prisms reach 2.2 cm on edge and clustered calcite scalenohedrons on one end, to 3.7 cm (doubly terminated) are a fine and typical accessory. Baryte is another species along with fluorite and calcite, that the famous Moscona Mine has produced outstanding examples. Ex Raul Sanabria Orellana Collection, a well-known Spanish collector and author. He is the co-author of the excellent recent 2024 Mineralogical Record Berbes, Spain article in Vol 55, No 1 and co-author of the 2021 Mineralogical Record article on the Aliva Mining District, Spain Vol. 52, No. 4. Richness, form and size make this a very fine large baryte combination from the noted locale.
