Item Description

Typically the Baryte crystals from the Rock Candy Mine in British Columbia are a golden hue, but a few pockets produced these attractive silvery-smoky colored crystals, which are certainly harder to find in my experience. This piece features a predominant pair of very sharp, well-formed, translucent blocky Baryte crystals measuring up to 3.8 cm, sitting on smaller Baryte crystals, with no matrix. The two main Baryte crystals are in very good condition, and aesthetically intergrown to create a showy miniature sized display specimen. These are not commonly seen on the market anymore, and if you collect worldwide Barytes, you need one of these in your collection. From the worldwide mineral collection of Albert Lewis Kidwell (January 1, 1919 - August 16, 2008). Al was a well-known mineral collector and research geologist with Carter Oil Company and later Exxon Oil Company in Houston, Texas. The phosphate species Kidwellite was named in his honor in 1974 ( https://www.mindat.org/photo-326405.html ).
