Item Description

The barytes from Rosebud Mine in Pershing County, Nevada are well-known for their sharp and geometric crystal form, translucent to opaque porcelain-white color, and sculptural clusters. This specimen has 2 large, equant crystals with a smaller crystal in the back bridging the two large ones. The larger of the two main barytes is 1.8 x 1.6 cm and the second crystal is 1.4 x 1.4 cm. A characteristic internal phantom growth pattern is visible and there is a small bit of matrix included at the bottom of the crystals. A signature piece from this unusual mine that was short-lived in the late 1990s to early 2000s! Ex. Alex Venzke.
