Here we have a good quality, full cabinet sized, eye-catching Baryte specimen from this classic locality in the Massif Central of France. The specimen is essentially a crystallized "plate" hosting many fine, sharp, lustrous, gemmy, golden colored Baryte crystals which measure up to 2.6 cm, with no real matrix. I can't find any major damage, and the larger crystals are distinct and well-isolated, allowing them to really stand out. If you're a fan of worldwide Barytes or French minerals this is a good example to add to your collection. Valued $1,500.
Spectacular piece from the collection of the long time, beloved, well-known French field collector, Paul Zerfass. Zerfass built this worldwide collection over nearly 50 years, many of which were personally collected. A biography featuring specimens from his collection (along with his face on the cover) is in the May - June 2017 issue of French mineral magazine, Le Règne Minéral.
