Baryte

Item Description

A lovely small cabinet sized display specimen of Baryte from this classic locality in the Massif Central of France. The piece is filled with many sharp, fairly thick, lustrous, gemmy, gentle golden colored Baryte crystals which measure up to 1.7 cm, on a thin layer of matrix. No major damage that I can see (I found one nicked corner on one of the larger crystals, but most are in very good condition) and the larger crystals are well-isolated, allowing them to really stand out. If you're a fan of worldwide Barytes or French minerals this is a good example to add to your collection.
This piece is from the collection of the long time, beloved, well-known French field collector, Paul Zerfass. Zerfass built this worldwide collection over nearly 50 years, many of which were personally collected. A biography featuring specimens from his collection (along with his face on the cover) is in the May - June 2017 issue of French mineral magazine, Le Règne Minéral.
