Item Description

Excellent large matrix baryte specimens of this quality are very uncommon to rare from this less well-known extinct French baryte-fluorite mine near the Mediterranean Sea. An impressive and pristine 9.3 cm cluster of striking, opposing parallel-growth spear point baryte blades is dramatically set on the large sculptural matrix. The very glassy and lustrous gray blades are mostly translucent with some transparent areas. The mine operated from 1946 until 1986 (MINDAT). Ex Paul Zerfass Collection No. 680. Very choice large matrix baryte from the locale.
