A showy full cabinet sized display specimen of these excellent, and I would say classic Barytes from Peru. These pieces first showed up on the market in the early 2000s, and are some of the best quality Barytes from any locality in South America. This piece is filled with very sharp, highly lustrous, rather gemmy, thick tabular bladed Baryte crystals of a beautiful golden color measuring up to about 2.2 cm, aesthetically sitting on matrix. I love the balance and three-dimensional appeal of the specimen as it displays wonderfully as you can see from the photos. I can actually make the piece sit on its own without a base or clay, but it's somewhat precarious, so I wouldn't recommend doing this for your display at home. There are a few contacts on some of the Barytes, but overall the piece is in great condition. These pieces are now hard to find on the market, and certainly worth picking up if you collect Barytes, Peruvian minerals or general display pieces. From the collection of Kurt Hefendehl (#129 Pe), a well-known German collector all over Europe with worldwide contacts to dealers and collectors. He started collecting seriously at the age of 14 and his great and varied worldwide collection reached over 6000 pieces. He was very active mineralogically until shortly before his passing in 2020 at the age of 82. Considering his collection had a large number of pieces, it still had an unusually high standard of quality from most worldwide localities. He particularly specialized in all classics as well as minerals of the Black Forest, where he spent much time collecting. His Black Forest and German subcollections went to his good friend Wolfgang Wendel.
