Barysilite (very rare) (ex Rich Kosnar Collection)

Item Description

A hard to find Barysilite specimen from the famous Franklin Mining District in New Jersey. Some areas of pearly and plate white Barysilite are associated with Vesuvianite, Garnet, Axinite and Biotite. I have photographed the Barysilite under the microscope to better illustrate the quality. There are not many localities in the world for this rare lead manganese silicate, and despite the type locality being in Sweden, Franklin produced some of the finest specimens extant.
